Chiefs Touchdown Celebration: Justin Houston TD Dance Leads To Penalty, TD Then Gets Negated

Of course the Kansas City Chiefs were penalized for celebrating a touchdown that never happened. It has been that kind of year for Romeo Crennel's feckless football club. Although they showed some resolve in taking the Pittsburgh Steelers to overtime before losing 16-13 on "Monday Night Football," the Chiefs also may have choreographed their worst fail of the season.

Early in the third quarter with the score tied at 10, Steelers backup quarterback Byron Leftwich spiked an awkward incompletion that was initially ruled a fumble. Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston recovered the ball and returned it 21 yards for the touchdown, appearing to give the Chiefs a 16-10 lead.

After the apparent score, Houston led some of his fellow teammates in a group celebration, resulting in a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. But the referees weren't done yet. The men in stripes went under the hood to look over the play and ended up reversing the call, ruling it an incomplete pass rather than a fumble. Although the score didn't count for the Chiefs, the Steelers still got the penalty yards resulting from dance routine.

After a late a field goal forced overtime, the Chiefs committed their first turnover of the game at a particularly inopportune time, deep in their own territory on the first possession of overtime. Matt Cassel's interception led to a Shaun Suisham field goal and a Pittsburgh victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, your 2012 Kansas City Chiefs (anyone else looking forward to Bob Fescoe tomorrow?).
