Motorola Defy Pro QWERTY/Touch Android revealed

Motorola is adding a little something to their ?lifeproof? device lineup in the form of the Defy Pro, due to launch in Brazil. The Defy, Defy+ and Defy Mini are already doing the rounds in numerous markets across the globe offering a more hardy smartphone experience than your average device and now this portrait QWERTY is joining the family.

It has to be said at first glance this doesn?t look any more water, shock or dust resistant than your staple BlackBerry Curve, but as stated by Engadget, the Defy Pro is set to tackle a hard day?s rough and tumble without issue. Although there?s no mention of the IP67 certification as found on the Defy+, the Pro does offer a 2.7-inch touchscreen covered by a layer of Corning's ever-popular Gorilla glass. Being a business-focused phone, there?s also a full office suite of apps out the box in the form of both Quickoffice and MotoPrint and of course internet services over 3G or WiFi.

Although the full hardware capabilities of the Defy Pro weren?t listed in its press release, we do know that there?s the option of expandable memory up to 32GB with a 2GB microSD card included at retail, it has both DLNA and hotspot functionality, charges via microUSB port and comes with a 5-megapixel camera on the back complete with LED flash and video support. Hopefully, despite the anticipated low cost of this handset, it won?t suffer from the same LED flash woes as the comapy's MOTOLUXE, which destroyed any hope of a usable photo in low light as we discovered in our review.

Motorola refused to comment on international availability, but as Motorola?s UK portfolio is looking a little stale, it might make sense for the company to bring a low cost device with a bit of bite into the market. Availability in Brazil is set to begin from July 15th.
