Save the Biltmore Update | PhoenixNetwork.us

(Belleair, Florida) ? This Save the Biltmore Update is an URGENT REMINDER of the two VERY IMPORTANT MEETINGS in Belleair TOMORROW Monday, August 6 at 4 p.m. and Tuesday August 7 at 5:30 p.m. The future of the Belleview Biltmore Hotel is at stake so all our dedicated supporters NOW is the chance to be heard and seen to show your passion to save this wonderful and iconic historic hotel.

I again urge all of you to either attend one or both of the meetings in Belleair in August or send an email to the Mayor and commissioners in regards to the final steps towards the saving of the Belleview Biltmore Hotel.

Per my last Biltmore Update to recap again, Belleair officials including the Finance Board are going to be making a decision on the tax abatement issue, which would allow Belleview Biltmore Partners (BBP) tax relief for ten years after their renovations on the hotel are completed.

Currently, homeowners in Belleair are the only ones allowed tax relief for up to ten years, but only if they spend money to restore or preserve a historic home. This tax relief only happens after the preservation project is completed, and it also only affects the increased value of the property. BBP wishes the same historic tax abatement on the Belleview Biltmore as homeowners once BBP finishes their renovations of of the Biltmore and its surrounding cottages.

Because the tax abatement will cost some money to Belleair?s revenue, the issue is going to be first discussed by the Finance Board Monday, August 6 at 4 p.m. I strongly urge YOU to attend this first important meeting in Belleair to show your support to this Board that it is important that the Biltmore be saved! Convince this Finance Board that the Biltmore MUST BE SAVED! The historic preservation ordinance was passed in 2005 to SAVE THE BILTMORE, and you and I must press on to keep the ordinance intact and preserve this beautiful historic hotel.

There is NO other Belleview Biltmore Hotel! The Finance Board will then give their opinion to the commissioners in regards to the tax abatement, so it is so important that you come to this first meeting! Belleair commissioners and mayor will be meeting the next ev ening Tuesday at 5:30 on August 7 to discuss the tax abatement keeping in mind the recommendations of the Finance Board so PLEASE come to this second meeting also!

There are some people in Belleair who unfortunately are pushing to destroy the vision of BBP and the Biltmore by objecting to this tax abatement so it is IMPERATIVE THAT YOU COME TO ONE OR ALL OF THESE MEETINGS! You must be heard OVER them!

The Belleair Town Hall is located at, 901 Ponce de Leon, Belleair, FL, 33756 but if you are unable to attend, PLEASE send emails of support, email addresses below.

FINANCE BOARD MEETING: Monday, August 6, 2012, 4:00 p.m.

TOWN COMMISSION MEETING: Tuesday, August 7, 2012, 5:30 p.m.

I am counting on you as staunch Biltmore supporters to keep pressing on this August for a final push to help BBP and the Biltmore. The six-month contract to buy the Biltmore must be signed by the end of September, so we NEED YOUR HELP NOW!

SAVE THE BILTMORE FLYER?URGENT!
There is a flyer for you to print and post in areas where people are local enough to attend these important meetings. Libraries, the Biltmore condos, gas stations, coffee shops, offices, retail stores, car windows, home windows, the mall, etc, any public place would be great places to post a flyer. It will help bring awareness to the hotel as well as help people attend these important meetings. Bring it to the meetings and show it or hand it to the Finance Board or the commissioners!

Dear Belleair Officials:

Restoration of the Belleview Biltmore Hotel is unquestionably the highest and best use of the property. It will create new jobs, provide tax revenue, new business opportunities, increase property values while enriching the lives of Belleair residents and surrounding communities. Please vote ?YES!? on the tax abatement so Belleview Biltmore Partners can obtain valuable tax relief for ten years after the renovations are completed.

The historic preservation ordinance in 2005 was passed to SAVE THE BILTMORE. One of the goals of the Comprehensive Plan of the town of Belleair is ?the preservation of the Belleview Biltmore Resort Hotel.? The Florida Trust preservation organization, www.floridatrust.org, recommends that the Belleview Biltmore Hotel be preserved. The National Trust organization, www.nationaltrust.org, recommends that the Belleview Biltmore Hotel be preserved. Now is the time to keep pushing forward to save this historic icon.

We are all counting on you to complete the task that was started in 2005 so the historic Belleview Biltmore can have that second chance at greatness.

Sincerely,
